In the early 1900s, the USS Abraham Lincoln sails into Nagasaki. A young naval officer marries a Japanese girl, then leaves her, pregnant with his son, and returns years later with a "real" American wife, to take away the child. Puccini's most moving and beautiful score.  Presented fully staged, with orchestra and chorus and period costumes and sets, and a stellar cast at the 400-seat Lucie Stern Theatre in Palo Alto, an ideal venue for live opera.  Only four performances.
