The Life we Dream....
an intergalactic love triangle based on Puccini's dark opera Il Tabarro (The Cloak).
Paired with with an aerial performance conceived to a rarely performed string chamber work,
Giacomo Puccini's Crisantemi, choreographed and performed by:
Anna Yanushkevich and Cirque du Luna!
Conceived as if on the dying water planet of Lissia, these hard pressed alien protagonists live out the daily grind of their hardscrabble existence, survive and take pleasure in whatever way they can. Meet Michele, the captain of a cargo boat porting heavy goods to the outer reaches of a struggling planet. Meet his wife Georgetta who dreams of a glittering, carefree life like the one she enjoyed on her rich home world before she married Michele and took on the drab working life of a barge wife. Is it any wonder that her hungry spirit falls in love with the strapping Luigi who shares her memories of the bright, happy place they grew up in and who dreams, as she does, of a richer, more meaningful life far from a dying planet.
