Madrigalchor Kiel (Germany) is visiting the San Francisco Bay Area from October 3 - October 11, 2019, to perform a series of choral concerts within the framework of the San Francisco—Kiel Sister City Partnership.
Madrigalchor Kiel is known far beyond its borders for its performance of many types of choral music. The singers of the choir under their director Friederike Woebcken discover and explore the multi-faceted soundscapes of polyphonic Scandinavian vocal works to make them known to their local audiences and to introduce them to the world on their travels. Since its foundation in 1990, the choir has accepted invitations from numerous countries around the world, including USA, Japan and South Africa. In 2015, it was a guest at the International Choir Festival in Tolosa (Spain).
The choir frequently returns to its musical roots in Scandinavia, with many concert tours through Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Iceland.
