Hailing from the Bay Area's first family of jazz, multi-instrumentalist Smith Dobson V returns to the JHL with his masterful quartet. An invaluable contributor to the Bay Area jazz scene for more than two decades, the Santa Cruz-raised multi-instrumentalist brims with creativity. He's worked as a vibraphonist and drummer (performing widely with trumpeter Erik Jekabson), but these days he's concentrating on reeds, and for this JHL engagement he's bringing his soprano, alto, and tenor saxophones.
Focusing on his original compositions and arrangements, his band features some of the region's finest improvisors.
