The Japanese-born, Los Angeles based pianist performs re-arranged classics by the legendary Miles Davis and original compositions with her superb trio. Beginning classical piano at age four in her hometown of Fukui, Mabuchi turned her interest to hip-hop and R&B as a teen, and eventually found her calling after hearing the jazz piano greats during her high school years. Her talent developed quickly, and she was soon performing as a jazz soloist and as part of a local trio. The young pianist relocated to Los Angeles in 2010 and released her Vista Records debut, Waves, the following year, followed by an album of original compositions, My Life, in 2014.
Her new Yarlung Records album, Plays Miles Davis, celebrates the legacy of the jazz icon with scintillating versions of classics.
