Anderon's stinrg-based trio with jazz bass virtuoso McBride and wildly eclectic cellist Kodheli blends the sound of several different worlds into a harmonious whole. McBride is widely regarded as the standard-bearer for jazz bassists in the 21st century, and is among the most recorded artists of his generation. He has appeared on over 300 albums with many of the most illustrious figures in jazz, including Sonny Rollins, McCoy Tyner, Freddie Hubbard, Chick Corea, Joe Henderson, and Pat Metheny, while collaborating with artists from across the musical spectrum like Kathleen Battle, Sting, and Questlove of The Roots.
Albanian-born cellist Kodheli has made a career as a restless creator, working alternately in rock, modern classical, and jazz settings with artists including Dave Douglas, Henry Threadgill, Meredith Monk, and Tom Harrell. He is an active composer for film and orchestra, and has recently been collaborating with Laurie Anderson in performances of her piece Letters to Jack, devoted to her correspondence as a youth with John F. Kennedy. Making its West Coast debut at SFJAZZ, the trio premiered at New York's Town Hall in 2017, making The New York Times' list of Best Live Jazz Performances for the year.
