On Wed,Sept 4, at 10 AM, the San Francisco Opera Lecture Series presents BILLY BUDD, by Benjamin Britten.
Lecturer: Jonathan Khuner, Conductor and Musical Director of Berkeley's West Edge Opera, as well as prompter for a number of major opera companies here and abroad.
A short story by Herman Melville is the basis for this tragic court martial in the British Navy, at a time when mutiny was threatening in the fleet. It depicts the destruction of the young sailor and the inability of his captain to save him.
