The San Francisco Girls Chorus continues its 2020 Virtual Festival with Songs from the Archipelago, a program that explores the musical intersection of western classical and Filipino classical music with a special preview of Tomorrow’s Memories, a new SFGC commissioned opera by American composer Matthew Welch. This virtual event replaces the previously scheduled June 16 Herbst Theatre concert and also features a selection of works composed in the western classical style that draw heavily on folk songs of, and using instruments from, the Philippines.
