ARTZenter Institute, in cooperation with San Francisco Contemporary Music Players (SFCMP), is pleased to announce an evening of “open readings” of works for chamber orchestra by six emerging composers on Friday, January 5, 2024 at 7:30 PM at Herbst Theatre. The six finalists were selected from 40 submissions that were received in July 2023 for the second deadline of the newly created Emerging Composer Completion Grants project. Applicants came from across the nation, including composers currently enrolled in degree programs at Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Rice, and Northwestern universities; as well as from The Juilliard School, New England Conservatory of Music, Eastman School of Music, and University of California. Four adjudicators reviewed the submissions and chose the following six finalists:

Eda Er – Beyond the Pacific Ocean (University California, Berkeley)
Craig Peaselee – Her Dress Waves (University of Miami)
Sepehr Pirasteh – Before Dawn (Temple University)
Cole Reyes – Snap (University of Michigan)
