View the New Music Ensemble Concert on SFCM's Site WHAT'S COOL ABOUT THIS EVENING: Nicole Paiement, internationally renowned conductor, Artistic Director of Opera Parallèle, and director of SFCM’s New Music Ensemble. Classical meets electronic in artless beauty in pursuit of theory Op. 1. Women make music. The evening features compositions by Elena Kats-Chernin, Missy Mazzoli, Moon Young Ha, and Kate Moore. A piece by Joby Talbot, recently written for BalletBoyz in London, will also be performed. This concert is extra special: to invite you into the concert halls, select performances during the fall semester (like this one) include special intermission content, including virtual artist meet-and-greets, composer interviews, and mini master-classes with top faculty. ABOUT SFCM’S NEW MUSIC ENSEMBLE: SFCM’s New Music Ensemble places students in the classical music of their own time and recent generations. As a member of the ensemble, you’ll perform a variety of works written in the 20th and 21st centuries in concert each year. Personal contact with visiting composers is provided whenever possible to strengthen the bond between performer and composer, a vital aspect of today’s performing landscape today. We also present several concerts and readings of works by student composers each year.
