The Healer

Jan. 29-30: Jan. 29, 6pm, Jan. 30, 5 and 8pm Originally scheduled for March 2020 and postponed due to the global pandemic, RAWdance re-imagines the premiere of The Healer as a holistic online experience and virtual dance performance. After months of isolation, anxiety, frustration, loss, grief and uncertainty, The Healer embraces a new purpose to create space for personal reflection, communal breath and universal release. Choreographed by Katerina Wong in memory of her late aunt, The Healer mines the ancient history, systems and beliefs of Traditional Chinese Medicine to magnify and marvel at humanity's innate ability to overcome physical and emotional suffering. The online event will include a pre-show presentation, a dance premiere filmed at ODC Theater and a post-show Q&A with the artistic collaborators. In addition to choreographer and dancer Katerina Wong, collaborators include dancers Michaela Cruze, Juliann Witt and Stacey Yuen; composer Daniel Berkman; scenic designer Chad Owens; lighting designer Del Medoff; and costume coordinator Jhia Jackson.
