Food, Wine, and Song Quartet "Happened Change"
Inspired by the poetry of Tobey Kaplan who reads her work, Happened Change weaves the brilliant improvisational music of Heikki Koskinen (e-trumpet, tenor recorder, small percussion) and Cindy Webster (musical saw, hurdy gurdy, ocean harp) with Nan Busse’s harlequinesque movement score takes viewers on reflective journey.
Jeff Kaliss has featured and reviewed classical, jazz, rock, and world musics and other entertainment for the San Francisco Chronicle and a host of other regional, national, international, and web-based publications. He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University, is a published poet, and is the author of I Want to Take You Higher: The Life and Times of Sly & the Family Stone (Backbeat Books) and numerous textbook and encyclopedia entries, album liner notes, and festival program notes.
Markku Salo currently lives in Kerava Finland and holds a doctorate in Sociology from University of Tampere with an emphasis in Psychiatric Reform. He speaks five languages and is the current Director of Research for The Black Box project on residential facilities of mental health and drug abuse service users in Finland. He is also a journalist, writer, poet and music producer presenting both residential and international artists from around the world. He has produced and performed over sixteen music and radio dramas and has published eight books both in social and musical subjects since 1992. His new book Spirituality in African-American Music is due be released by Aviador Publishing, Helsinki in 2024. He will be joined by saxophonist Rent Romus.
