The Oakland Symphony's 2022-2023 season features six specially invited guest conductors of the new generation who will lead the Orchestra at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA.
The March 24 concert will present “Romeo & Juliet” with Joseph Young leading the Orchestra. The Bay Area’s Shakespeare-focused theater company Cal Shakes will collaborate. The program includes Lera Auerbach’s Icarus, Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, and music from Serge Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet. Joseph Young is Music Director of the Berkeley Symphony, Artistic Director of Ensembles for the Peabody Conservatory, and Resident Conductor of the National Youth Orchestra–USA at Carnegie Hall.
