Oakland Symphony and Ronald McDonald Charities Bay Area come together to present the free Family Hype Concert on Sunday, April 16 at 4:00pm at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA. Designed for families, the 75-minute concert will address the therapeutic power of music and how it helps us all build community and overcome challenges through storytelling and live performances. The Oakland Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Kedrick Armstrong with stories and songs curated by families, pediatric patients, doctors, nurses, and music therapists.
Storytellers include The Midnight Rounds, a band of Stanford Children’s Health doctors; Ivette Rosas is a parent staying at Ronald McDonald House while her daughter recovers from a double-lung transplant; Kaiya Mack is a patient from Hawai’i who was able to access lifesaving care in the Bay Area because of Ronald McDonald House’s free lodging, meals, and support services; music therapist Lauren Ragan from UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, and more.
