The Oakland Symphony's 2022-2023 season features six specially invited guest conductors of the new generation who will lead the Orchestra.
For the program “Notes from California” on February 24, 2023, conductor Vinay Parameswaran will be joined by soprano Kathryn Mueller. The program will feature three works related to the Golden State. Two are by acclaimed contemporary composers Gabriella Smith (her Tumblebird in its Bay Area premiere) and Reena Esmail (her eloquent History of Red.) Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony in Three Movements is one of the many masterworks from Beverly Hills’ enclave of exiled artists in the 1940s. Parameswaran is in his fourth season as the Assistant Conductor of The Cleveland Orchestra and music director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra.
