Madeleine Mitchell has been described by The Times as ‘one of Britain's liveliest musical forces (and) foremost violinists'. Her performances in some 50 countries as soloist and chamber musician in a wide repertoire are frequently broadcast for television and radio including the BBC Proms, ABC (Australia), Bayerischer Rundfunk, S4C and Italian TV when she won the Palma d’Oro, praised both for her vibrant lyrical intensity and pioneering creativity.

She has represented the UK in recitals, at the festival UKinNY at the Lincoln Center and for the Queen’s Jubilee in Rome - her ‘Century of British Music’ hosted by the British Ambassador. Recent engagements include Elgar Violin Concerto in Russia, recitals in Singapore, Wigmore and Barbican Halls London, BBC Radio 3, Schoenberg Center Vienna, Moscow, Dartington International Summer Festival, judging the Western International Strings Competition in China and a major tour of the USA.

BBC Radio 3 recently broadcast her live recording with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales of the Violin Concerto written for her by Guto Puw from the Vale of Glamorgan Festival. This is included on her latest album, Violin Muse of 7 world premiere recordings which were launched in the Britten Theatre at the Royal College of Music and has received wide acclaim. It comprises works written for Mitchell with piano by Michael Nyman, David Matthews, Sadie Harrison and Geoffrey Poole, a piece by Michael Berkeley and ‘Atlantic Drift’ violin duos by Judith Weir, Master of the Queen’s Music, played by the BBC for International Women's Day 2018. 2019 sees Madeleine return to the USA for Brahms Double Concerto, launch a new album for Naxos and new works for her by Robert Saxton, Martin Butler, and Michael Nyman.
