FRICTION QUARTET, lauded for performances described as "terribly beautiful" (San Francisco Classical Voice), "stunningly passionate" (Calgary Herald), and "exquisitely skilled" (ZealNYC), is dedicated to modernizing the chamber music experience and expanding the string quartet repertoire. The quartet achieves its mission by commissioning cutting-edge composers, curating imaginative concert programs, collaborating with diverse artists, and engaging in interactive educational outreach. Otis Harriel, violin, Kevin Rogers, violin, Mitso Floor, viola, and Doug Machiz, cello. www.frictionquartet.com
AMY FOOTE, undaunted by the vocal and theatrical demands of contemporary classical music, sings an expansive repertoire, ranging from leading roles on the operatic stage, world premieres of contemporary chamber music to stunning studio vocals for feature films and Bay Area Bands. Her voice is described as “sinuous and bright-toned…with an alluringly silvery sheen” (San Francisco Chronicle). www.amymichellefoote.com
The National Association of Composers, USA (NACUSA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1933 by Henry Hadley, originally as the National Association of Composers and Conductors. It is one of the oldest organizations dedicated to the promotion and performance of music by Americans. Many of the most distinguished composers of the 20th Century have been NACUSA members. The San Francisco Bay Area Chapter was started by Nancy Bloomer-Deussen and John Webber more than twenty years ago. The Chapter has evolved into an active organization with a peak membership of seventy-five. It produces four to six concerts a year in the San Francisco Bay Area.
