In response to the current outbreak of COVID-19, Marin County issued an advisory on Monday, March 9th that places a two-week moratorium on all non-essential gatherings of 100 or more. With this in mind, Mill Valley Philharmonic has made the decision to postpone our 20th Anniversary Celebration concerts and gala, scheduled for March 11, 13 and 15. We are currently working to find suitable dates for rescheduling these events. We will be in touch as soon as new dates are secured, and look forward to seeing you then.
Feel free to contact Executive Director Richard Aldag at (415) 383-0930 for further information or answers to any questions.

Mill Valley Philharmonic (MVP) is excited to announce a Gala Concert in celebration of its 20th Anniversary on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 2:30 at Mill Valley Community Center. The Gala will feature a special concert by MVP, followed by a party with complimentary fine wine, craft beer, sweet and savory nibbles, and a silent auction. The orchestra will perform Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s popular and virtuosic Scheherazade, Op. 35, and will be joined by renowned guest cellist Jean-Michel Fonteneau, who will perform Édouard Lalo’s Cello Concerto in D Minor. In addition to the Gala, MVP will preview the program at a Free Preview Performance on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:00 PM, and will present a full concert on Friday, March 13th at 7:30 PM, both at Mt. Tamalpais United Methodist Church in Mill Valley. Tickets for the Friday night concert are $20 and available at the door or in advance at https://millvalleyphilharmonic.org/tickets.
Mill Valley Philharmonic is a prize-winning non-profit, volunteer symphony orchestra that was founded in Fall 2000. At the time, MVP was the only non-professional community orchestra in Marin apart from the College of Marin Orchestra, and that remains the case. Starting with 15 string players, the ensemble has grown to a full orchestra of 50+ auditioned musicians, ranging in age from accomplished high school students to octogenarians. Demand – both from dedicated amateur players who audition to play with the group, and from an expanding group of thousands of local music lovers – has been strong. Today, more than 3,500 people attend MVP concerts each season, and the orchestra is experiencing sell-out crowds.
MVP has performed over 180 concerts, playing in every Marin County community, as well as in unique and historical venues around the Bay Area such as Treasure Island; the Bay Model in Sausalito; the Discovery Museum; and Angel Island. In addition to standard orchestral repertoire, MVP prides itself on having commissioned and presented 20 world premieres by emerging composers. Local professional soloists, including several from the San Francisco Symphony, perform regularly with MVP. And, numerous performing arts groups have collaborated with MVP, ranging from a Gamelan orchestra to flamenco dancers, a Miwok Indian leader, and several local choruses.
