You cannot discuss choral music in America without talking about Alice Parker. As a composer, arranger, educator, pianist, and singer, her influence and impact over more than seven decades—Parker’s collaboration with Robert Shaw put her on the cover of Time—is immeasurable. In this jubilant concert, Grant Gershon and the Los Angeles Master Chorale pay homage by performing music by Parker, including Come Away to the Skies, and world-premiere pieces by some of this generation’s most promising composers.
