The Kathleen Hermesdorf FRESH FESTIVAL, in association with CounterPulse and Joe Goode Annex, launches San Francisco's 14th annual KH FRESH Festival of Experimental Dance, Music + Performance. PART 2 is an action-packed, FRESH FRESH, two week intensive March 6-19.
Turned toward this year's theme of A DOOR. A PORTAL. A PLACE, KH FRESH Festival 2023 is a diverse feast of embodied art, action and interaction, featuring two weeks of risk-taking Performances at CounterPulse, 2 weeks of immersive studio Practices and inclusive, interactive community Exchanges, and 75+ cutting-edge artists from the Bay Area and beyond. KH FRESH 2023 takes place at two historic locations in San Francisco, which are also community partners of the Festival: CounterPulse and Joe Goode Annex. FRESH is open to all curious, adventurous and serious bodies, offering multiple ways to experience cutting-edge live art alongside radical dance, music and performance.
FRESH Festival was created to ensure that San Francisco continues to grow as a provocative center for contemporary dance, music and performance. FRESH is artist-oriented and artist-run,manifesting as an arena for research; an incubator for new work; a generator for sharing resources, and a platform for cross-pollinating communities. Rooted in the body, the Festival embodies Bay Area legacies of creative freedom, community collaboration, ground-breaking practice and performance tactics, multi-disciplinary sensibilities, and accessible, alternative education.
The 2023 KH FRESH Festival collaborative production team is: Abby Crane, Ainsley Tharp, Chibueze Crouch, Clarissa Dyas, Gizeh Muniz Vengel, Jessi Barber and Albert Mathias, with current and past support from Delaney McDonough, Sarah Pritchard, and Hannah Wasielewski.
KH FRESH Festival is co-produced by Performance Primers, Circo Zero, Jess Curtis Gravity, and CounterPulse.
$5-$30 performance; Class $30 a day.
