By popular demand, we are starting a series of chamber music concerts performed by the best Bay Area musicians and narrated by Mikhail Kazinik. In this first concert, we will present masterpieces from the two Russian composers: Tchaikovsky's monumental Piano Trio and sublime Piano Trio No. 2 by Dmitry Shostakovich. Mikhail Kazinik recorded his remarks in two passionate videos, introducing the pieces to the audience.
All of the proceeds and donations from these concerts are going towards a scholarship fund for the young Ukrainian musicians from Slobozhansky Youth Professional Orchestra (from Kharkiv), who now live as war refugees in Poland. These scholarships are going to enable them to participate in the Nelli Shkolnikova Academy, an intensive chamber music retreat for the young musicians. The retreat is organized by a San Francisco Symphony violinist, David Chernyavsky, a student of ptofessor Shkolnikova. The faculty is assembled from many of the students of Nelli Shkolnikova who went on to teach and perform in the best American and European orchestras and conservatories.
By buying a ticket you are helping a young musician in a time of need. You may also consider making a tax deductible donation to the the Nelly Shkolnikova Academy here: https://fundraising.fracturedatlas.org/nelli-shkolnikova-academy
