In celebration of Jim Hodges’ artwork, Unearthed, on view at the cathedral through September 8, this award-winning organist from Bari, Italy presents a musical journey across four European countries.
The musical journey begins in early 1700s Germany with a Passacaglia that is among the major organ works composed by J. S. Bach. He will also perform works by celebrated 20th century Austrian composer J.F. Doppelbauer who wrote nearly 600 works for all musical genres. Sforza will continue through Italy in the work of pianist and organ improviser and composer M.E. Bossi and conclude with a late 19th century piece by French organist C. Franck who is known for his work on the great Cavaillé-Coll organ when he was titulaire at the Basilica of Saint Clotilde in Paris.
