Performance April 5
The Winds of Frisson reflect perfect teamwork in their ability to anticipate and support the other members of this marvelous ensemble. These are master musicians from the top music schools in America. Led by their Director Thomas Gallant, one of the best oboists in the world, these musicians will bring a program of diverse and varied instrumentation of both rarely performed and traditional masterworks.
You do not want to miss the concert in their upcoming performance at 2:30 pm in Faye Spanos Concert Hall, on Sunday April 5, 2020.
Considered by many to be the most difficult of all the musical instruments, the oboe is often called the ‘ill wind that no one blows good.’ Oboist Thomas Gallant is one of the world’s few virtuoso solo performers on this instrument and he has been praised by The New Yorker magazine as ‘a player who unites technical mastery with intentness, charm and wit.”. In Stockton we have heard Thomas Gallant as part of our annual chamber music series and we are very very pleased to have him return with his ensemble Winds of Frisson.
Winds of Frisson will also include Marika Bournaki, piano; Ji Weon Ryi, flute; Bixby Kennedy, clarinet; Remy Taghavi, bassoon; and Trevor Nuckols, French horn. They will perform the following program:
Ravel--Tombeau de Couperin for winds
Poulenc – Sextet for piano and winds
Stravinsky – Three pieces for clarinet
Beethoven – Quintet for piano and winds
The Winds of Frisson will provide a rich and rewarding chamber music concert presented by Stockton’s Friends of Chamber Music. Come enjoy the concert.
Tickets are $25 and are available in the lobby of Faye Spanos Concert Hall at UOP starting at 2:00 pm, 30 minutes before the concert. Students of any age are admitted free.
The audience is invited to meet the musicians at a reception following the concert.
