Tesla Quartet Chamber Music Concert

Presented by Friends of Chamber Music of Stockton

Tesla Quartet

Tesla Quartet

Performance   October 29, 2023

Known for their “superb capacity to find the inner heart of everything they play, regardless of era, style, or technical demand” (The International Review of Music), the Tesla Quartet is a wonderful combination of four artists who have been together for 16 seasons: Ross Snyder (violin), Michelle Lie (violin), Edwin Kaplan (viola), and Austin Fisher (cello).

Tesla Quartet’s emotive and thoughtful interpretations reveal the ensemble’s deep commitment to the craft. This is reflected in their multiple top prizes at the prestigious 2016 Banff International String Quartet Competition, 2015 International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition, and 2012 Wigmore Hall London International String Quartet Competition. The quality of their artistic performance is illustrated by being invited to play chamber music throughout the world: China, South Korea, Brazil,  Europe and North America.

In 2018, the Tesla Quartet released its debut album of Haydn, Ravel, and Stravinsky quartets on the Orchid Classics label to critical acclaim. BBC Music Magazine awarded the disc a double 5-star rating and featured it as the “Chamber Choice” for the month of December. The Classic Review raved, “From the outset, the quartet plays as a single instrument. Their sound is balanced across registers, their timbres and articulations matched".

The Tesla Quartet will provide a rich, adventurous and rewarding chamber music concert presented by Stockton’s Friends of Chamber Music. Come enjoy the concert.

Tickets are $25 and are available in the lobby of Faye Spanos Concert Hall at UOP starting at 2:00 pm, 30 minutes before the concert. Students of any age are admitted free.

The audience is invited to participate in a question and answer program with the artists in the concert hall following the concert.

Friends of Chamber Music concerts are presented in cooperation with Pacific and its Conservatory of Music. For a brochure or more information about the FOCM annual series, please call 209-956-2868 or visit www.chambermusicfriends.org.
