Performance February 6, 2022
These magical artists with the oboe, bassoon and piano will delight you in their upcoming performance at 2:30 pm in Faye Spanos Concert Hall, on Sunday February 6, 2022.
The Poulenc Trio has been performing since 2003 and is one of the most widely traveled artistic groups. They have played in 45 states and in music festivals around the world.
Alexander Vvedenskiy, the fabulous oboist in the trio, has won the Grand Prize and the special "Mozart-Wunderkind" Prize in the Vienna-Classic International Competition. His artistic skill is illustrated by his position as Principal Oboist for the Louisville Orchestra since 2015, and his performances as soloist and Principal Guest Oboe throughout Europe, Asia, and the USA.
Bryan Young, Principal bassoonist with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, has been praised for his "voluptuous sound" by the Double Reed Journal. A prizewinner of the 2002 Gillet International Bassoon Competition, he has appeared as soloist with the National Symphony and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras, as well as in recitals around the world. The Washington Post wrote, "Young's music dances with a lightness and grace uncommon for his instrument."
Pianist Irina Kaplan Lande is a graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. Winner of the Baltimore Chamber Music Award and the Montpelier Recital Competition, Irina has appeared in series including the Yale Gordon Concert Series, the Bachanalia Recital Series and the New York Times Young Performers Series. Concerts have led to critical praise of her "beauty and brilliance of sound, astonishing flexibility and penetrating interpretation."
The Palm Beach Daily News said the “potent combination” of oboe, bassoon and piano had “captured the magic of chamber music”, and their program was rebroadcast on American Public Media’s radio program, Performance Today. Since its founding, the trio has greatly expanded the repertoire available for the oboe, bassoon and piano, with no fewer than 22 new works, making the Poulenc Trio an outstanding chamber music groups with these marvelous instruments.
