The Festival Orchestra returns to the beautiful Harold J. Miossi CPAC for a performance showcasing elegant Spanish compositions. Opening the program is Brahms’s first serenade, a piece that is reminiscent of Gypsy music. Following is Rodrigo’s Fantasía, which was inspired by Gaspar Sanz’s 1674 manual on Spanish guitar playing. De Falla’s The Three Cornered Hat finishes the program, a ballet suite that tells a story of seduction and draws on traditional folk music of Andalucía.
