Dominican University’s Guest Concert Series concludes its 19th season on April 19 with a performance by the popular Tilden Trio.
The Sunday concerts, sponsored by Dominican’s Department of Music, Dance and Performing Arts, start at 3 p.m. Free parking is available in the nearby Conlan Center lot off Grand Avenue in San Rafael.
The Marin County trio will play Mozart Piano Trio in C Major, K.549; Schumann Sonata for Violin and Piano No.2 in D Minor, Op.121; and Ravel Piano Trio in A Minor. The Tilden Trio are Sarn Oliver, Violin; Peter Wyrick, Cello; and June Choi Oh, Piano.
“(The) performance by the Tilden Trio was a mesmerizing display of great musicmaking. With a warm tone that was inviting even in the most challenging music, the Tilden Trio proved the theory that chamber music at its best is a musical conversation between close friends,” the Honolulu Music Examiner opines.
Northern California’s premier ensemble, the trio was founded in 2004 by Sarn (First Violinist, San Francisco Symphony), Peter (Associate Principal, San Francisco Symphony) and June (Dept. Chair, Dominican University of California), who were Juilliard schoolmates and have collaborated for decades in various ensemble settings, starting in their pre-college days.
All Guest Concert Series concerts are free to students under the age of 18 including middle school and elementary school children if accompanied and supervised by an adult. In addition, community college students with a valid I.D. and music and art teachers in grades K-12 will be admitted free of charge along with Dominican students, faculty, and staff with a valid I.D.
Single-event tickets, which are only available at the door 30 minutes prior to scheduled performances, are $20 for general admission and $17 for seniors over 60. Season subscription series tickets are $60, $50 for seniors over 60.
