CONSORT CHORALE celebrates its 26th year of presenting quality choral concerts in Marin County this year with “Hail, Bright Cecelia!” for soloists, chorus, piano and orchestra.
This year's concert is dedicated to Saint Cecilia, the patroness of musicians, and will include Benjamin Britten’s “Hymn to Saint Cecelia, “Song to St. Cecilia” by soloist, composer and conductor Bradley Ellingboe, “A Song for St. Cecilia,” by Bay Area singer, composer and conductor Sanford Dole and “Hail Bright Cecilia” by Henry Purcell.
ALLAN ROBERT PETKER, founder-director of Consort Chorale returns again to lead this group of more than 50 auditioned singers, and this year he will be sharing the baton with renowned singer, composer and conductor Bradley Ellingboe. The repertoire for the concert features two of Ellingboe's compositions, along with a selection of pieces from both current and past composers, including George Frederick Handel, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Johannes Brahms, Edward Elgar, Antonio Vivaldi, and a rousing gospel composition by Moses George Hogan.
An outdoor reception follows the concert.
