Celebrating 27 years of presenting quality choral concerts in Marin County, Consort Chorale will present “Light” at the First Presbyterian Church in San Anselmo on Sunday, August 14 at 7pm. The concert will be led by its renowned and gifted founder, composer and conductor, Allan Robert Petker. This year, the concert will be co-conducted by Dr. Jennaya Robison who is currently the Director of Choral Studies and Professor of Choral Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory. One of the leading choral directors in North America, she is consistently in demand as a clinician, both nationally and internationally, and is also an acclaimed soprano.
They chose the theme of "Light" for the 27th summer concert because it carries a message of optimism that is especially needed as we emerge from a pandemic that forced choral singing into silence. We believe our program, including compositions by Bach, Brahms, Vaughan Williams, Hagenberg, Esenvalds, and many more, will brighten your day.
Comprised of more than 50 accomplished and auditioned singers, this is a very unique group in that it has been together for more than 27 years, and in many ways is like a family. The quality of the singers, along with the unusual repertoire they present every year, sets them apart. This in due, in part, to the fact that Petker himself is a composer and arranger with more than 250 published works, and is the president of Pavane Publishing, a choral works publishing company which he founded in 1989, and serves as the vice president of publications for the Fred Bock Music Company. Therefore, he has access to the most exciting and innovative choral composers on the scene today, and the group presents music not often heard anywhere else.
The concert will also feature vocal soloists, a piano accompanist and a small orchestra. An outdoor reception will follow the concert.
