Ihang Lin - Reflections in the Water

Ihang Lin (CSMA faculty, piano) presents Romantic and Impressionistic solo music by Frédéric Chopin and Claude Debussy. While Chopin’s complete set of Etudes Op.25 combines virtuosity and poetic musicality, Debussy’s Images, which includes “Reflections in the Water,” illustrates influence from Chopin with Debussy’s own coloristic and picturesque portrayal. As Debussy once wrote in 1905, “I think these three pieces [from Images]...will take their place in the piano literature…to the right of Chopin.”
