The public is invited to a groundbreaking celebration as the 100-year-old Community Music Center (CMC) begins expansion of its Mission District Campus Wednesday, February 16, at 2 pm, at 544 Capp Street in San Francisco. Breaking ground for CMC’s next century of music for everyone, the event will feature intergenerational performances by CMC students and faculty from the Children’s Chorus, Mission District Young Musicians Program, Mission District Older Adult Choirs, and members of the SFUSD Mariachi Program performing “If I Had a Hammer” and “Las Mañanitas.” Participating faculty include Martha Rodríguez-Salazar, Beth Wilmurt, Miguel Govea, Susan Peña, Sharon Wayne and Tregar Otton. The event is free of charge, space is limited and registration, masks and proof of vaccination are required.
