Music for the Times [Postponed]

Presented by Community Concerts at Epworth

Dear friends, Due to the Bay Area's shelter in place order, we are postponing our final livestream concert of 2020. We look forward to bringing this program to you when we can make music together once again. Have a safe December!

The final concert of our Fall Season features the world premier performance of Dialogues for violin and viola by Kay Kyurim Rhie, commissioned by Community Concerts at Epworth.

Rhie holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts from Cornell University, where she was awarded the Robbins Prize for Composition. Growing up in Los Angeles, her influences include film and jazz, classical European, and cross-cultural traditions, including folk music from her native Korea. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Composition and Theory at UCLA.

Each concert in this series has featured a tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven, born 250 years ago in December 1770. Our final offering is String Quartet No. 12, the first of Beethoven's late quartets, completed in 1825, and performed by San Francisco's Eos Ensemble.

Our Fall Season performances are streamed live from our concert venue, Epworth United Methodist Church of Berkeley. Watch and listen at 4:00PM Sunday on the Community Concerts website: www.communityconcertepworth.org and on Facebook: www.facebook.com/communityconcertepworth

Community Concerts at Epworth brings high quality performances of diverse styles and genres to our neighborhood in an accessible format. Concerts are about one hour in length and are presented without charge, so that all can have access to great music.

The concert series is a community service of Epworth United Methodist Church of Berkeley, a Reconciling Congregation committed to justice for all people.
