The final weekend of the Classical Tahoe festival opens with Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman, a three minute piece by Grammy Award Winning American Composer Joan Tower. Following the fanfare will be a performance of one of Franz Joseph Haydn’s late symphonies: #104.
After intermission, concert-goers will experience an orchestral suite from one of the most famous and well known works for ballet by Igor Stravinsky, a masterpiece of the early 20th century, L’oiseau de feu: The Firebird. Stravinsky revised this piece three times and the Classical Tahoe Orchestra will perform the 1919 edition.
Without a doubt, Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” stands out even among the diverse and balanced repertoire of Season 8 in full. Anyone who listens and enjoys classical music will want to come to North Lake Tahoe for this performance during Classical Tahoe Festivals’ closing weekend.
South Lake Tahoe, Reno, San Francisco and the Bay Area patrons and visitors to Tahoe are encouraged to call the Classical Tahoe Box Office for more information and concierge services on restaurants, accommodations, and transportation.
