Non Tactus

Presented by Center for New Music

Non Tactus is composed of artists Lenny Gonzalez, Rich Graff, and Robert Nance present a cross-fading concert collaboration. Utilizing the Center for New Music’s state of the art Meyer Sound system, the artists will engage in a concert-length dialogue; alternating pieces one at a time until culminating in a mutual sharing of the sonic expanse. Long time colleagues and collaborators Gonzalez, Graff, and Nance hope to stamp a new mark on the concert-going public by presenting a concert of continuous sound in the structure of an open dialogue between the three performers at the Center for New Music at 5pm on Saturday, April 30. Tickets and further information can be found at https://centerfornewmusic.com

Lenny Gonzalez (b. 1970, Portsmouth, VA) is a Filipino American musician, photographer, and filmmaker. After years of documenting the Bay Area creative music scene, making music became a natural step. Using electric guitar, effects, and structured improvisation, Lenny focuses on translating emotional states into sonic landscapes. Projects include Velox Humm(w/ Scott Amendola) and Chase The Map(w/ Erik Ellestad and Kevin Thomson). Performances include appearances in the Active Music Series, Luggage Store Creative Music Series, and Garden Of Memory.

For the last 20 years, Rich Graff has been heavily involved in the Bay Area in audio production, product design, engineering, and sound design. Rich has been a drummer since he was a teen, but in the last decade has taken up analog/digital synthesizers, tape loops, and most recently, modular synthesis.

Robert Nance is an American guitarist, composer, and producer creating immersive sonic cocoons through the use of guitars, synthesizers, electronics, and field recordings. His works seek to build lusciously abstract environments that invite listeners to engage as actively or passively as their own experience unfolds, and have graced the stages of Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, and SFMOMA. Nance’s debut solo album A Musical Offering In Spite Of My Flaws premiered in May of 2020. His music has received rave reviews from Foxy Digitalis, Tome To The Weather Machine, and Bode Eléctico. As a founding member of Mobius Trio, he champions new forms of guitar music from disparate backgrounds. Robert's musical journey began with piano and trumpet lessons, but he never quite felt at home until discovering the guitar and catalogs of post-minimalism composers, pioneers of ambient music, electro-acoustic improvisers, and artful noise. When not making music he can be found screaming irrationally loudly at his beloved West Ham United, or brewing himself a cup of coffee.
