“Cloud About Mercury Revisited” with Feat of Clay, featuring trumpeter Eric Dahlman, zendrummer E. Doc Smith, bassist Edo Castro Woodhouse and guitarist Peter McKibben. in 1990 Dahlman and Smith were inspired by the music of guitarist David Torn’s 1987 ECM album “Cloud About Mercury”, featuring drummer Bill Bruford, bassist Tony Levin and trumpeter Mark Isham, and formed the Boston quartet Feat of Clay with bassist Michael Terry and guitarist Thomas Hevey. Like the aforementioned Cloud About Mercury group, Feat of Clay also employed the use of Simmons electronic drums, Chapman Stick, bass, trumpet, synthesizers, digital effects, loops and samples.
