Presented by Calliope: East Bay Music & Arts

Man holding trombone

The Remee Ashley Quartet is a trombone-centered jazz ensemble featuring outstanding young local talent: rising stars trombonist/leader Remee Ashley, a Berkeley High Jazz Program alum, has just been awarded an MA from Manhattan School of Music, and is about to embark on his PhD studies at University of Southern California. Pianist Ethan Ostrow is likewise an alum of the Berkeley High program, in addition to his many contributions to local musical theatre; he is a current student at Manhattan School of Music. Stand-up bass player Isaac Coyle, an El Cerrito High graduate, is currently attending Berklee College of Music. Drummer Matanda Keyes, a graduate of the Oakland public schools, has already built an impressive resume.

These stellar young musicians have already racked up many prestigious performance experiences and connections, and are on the cusp of what are sure to be exciting careers. They have performed at venues such as the Apollo, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, Dizzy's Coca Cola, Yoshi's, The Fox Theater, The Freight & Salvage, and so much more!

They will be serving up both classic and original jazz works in our intimate and inviting hall, taking full advantage of our gorgeous acoustics.
