5Play with Strings: Jazz Quintet Meets String Quartet

This is music you won’t hear anywhere else! This program consists entirely of original compositions, combining a jazz quintet with string quartet.

Typically, in a jazz setting, strings are either relegated to the role of “sweetener” or, in small jazz groups they function much like another horn. Here, you hear a true musical partnership, with the string quartet integrated into the music, lending its agility and plush sonority to balance and contrast with the slash and burn of the jazz quintet.
