California Music Center's house concerts feature Klein International String Competition prizewinners in recital in beautiful private venues around the Bay. Join us for an intimate and unique concert experience where conversation, food and performance meet. Guests gather at 6:30PM for a dinner buffet, fine wines, and dessert; concert at 7:30PM sharp. Seating is limited to usually no more than 50.
March's performer is Ariel Horowitz is a violinist, composer, and activist who enjoys pairing masterworks of the classical canon in dialogue with her political and interdisciplinary compositions. A student of Ani Kavafian at the Yale School of Music, Ariel previously studied with Itzhak Perlman and Catherine Cho. As founding director of The Heartbeat Project music education initiative on the Navajo Reservation, Ariel has received “From the Top” Alumni Leadership Grants (2017-18) and the 2017 McGraw Hill-Robert Sherman Award for Music Education and Community Outreach. Ariel was prizewinner of the Stulberg, Klein and Grumiaux, Juilliard, and Yale concerto and chamber music competitions. Born in the Washington, DC area, Ariel began her violin studies at the Levine School of Music.
