Trombonist Will Shannon brings his orchestra to the CJC for his senior recital concert. The group presents Shannon’s original music and arrangements, rich with latin rhythms, blues, hip hop, funk and jazz. Drawing inspiration from jazz pioneers like JJ Johnson and modern talents such as Jon Hatamiya, Will’s music strikes the perfect balance between timeless charm and fresh creativity. Artist Bio
Will Shannon is a San Francisco based trombonist who blends jazz, soul, and hip hop into a personal, eclectic, comfortable sound, drawing inspiration from the likes of JJ Johnson and John Coltrane, as well as more contemporary artists such as Jon Hatamiya and Keyon Harold. Born and raised in San Francisco, music was always around Will growing up. He began playing in 4th grade and has been ever since. Will graduated from Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in 2019, and pursued a Bachelors in Jazz Performance from the CJC shortly afterwards. Will has recently been playing at MOMASF, the San Jose Jazz festival, and numerous other venues in and around the Bay Area. Will is also a member of the Electric Squeezebox Orchestra, that can be seen every 2nd Sunday at the CJC.
