The California Jazz Conservatory Presents Omree Gal-Oz Trio: 20th Century Piano Styles

Join us for a night of heartfelt music and a better understanding of the history of jazz piano. Omree presents jazz piano styles starting from just after ragtime all the way to the 1990's. You will hear piano trio arrangements of the music of James P. Johnson, Art Tatum, Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, Lennie Tristano, Keith Jarrett, and Kenny Kirkland among others, with brief context for the time and the styles.

Artist Bio

Omree Gal-Oz has been playing shows around the bay area since the age of 13, when he played with the Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco (led by Dr. John Calloway and Arturo Riera). Throughout his teens, he played in various musical ensembles such as the SFJAZZ High School All-Stars and the CJC's program for high-schoolers. He studied piano at USC in Los Angeles with artists such as Russell Ferrante, Alan Pasqua and Bob Mintzer. He’s also performed with well-known musicians as Eric Harland, Greg Johnson, Mark Turner, Marcus Printup, and many others. For more information, visit ogaloz.github.io
