The California Jazz Conservatory Presents John Calloway Quartet: Tribute to the Buffalo Soldier and the Afro-Filipino

Presented by California Jazz Conservatory

As part of a recognition for Black History Month, the John Calloway Quartet (with special guests) will perform jazz and blues pieces as well as original themed material in tribute to the history and legacy of African American Buffalo soldiers that were stationed in the Philippines during the American occupation of 1898-1902. Many stayed in the Philippines and intermarried with the native peoples, leaving a culture and legacy of Afro-Filipinos there and in the U.S.
