Black History Month: Kai Eckhardt Quartet

The evening features a quartet of world class musicians who are highly acclaimed individually in the fields of jazz, rock, funk and world music. The material presented features Kai Eckhardt’s original compositions. His style can be described as a synthesis of Jazz, Funk and Indian classical music with a strong emphasis on groove and harmonic development. The band promises to deliver a high energy set of music with dazzling solos and intricate melodic passages. A rare musical journey not to be missed!

Artist/Group Bios
Kai Eckhardt is one of the leading contemporary bassists / composers with a 40 year history in music. He began his journey in Germany and immigrated to the United States after graduating from Berklee College of Music. Kai is featured on hundreds of albums and has performed and recorded with the John Mclaughlin Trio, Billy Cobham, Patrice Rushen, Wayne Shorter and Stanley Jordan. He also co-leads the band Garaj Mahal and currently leads the World Music Ensemble at UC Berkeley.
