Boris Eifman revives his Russian Hamlet in a refreshed production created to mark his Saint Petersburg company’s 40th anniversary in 2017. The choreographer tells the story of the House of Romanov in the 18th century, drawing parallels between the plight of Russia’s Prince Paul and the ill-fated Danish prince of Shakespeare’s play, set to music by Beethoven and Mahler.
