Musae - A Song of Myself: I contain multitudes
Loosely based on the Maiden/Mother/Crone mythos, this program offers snapshots of our individual development and experiences: the innocence and helplessness of childhood, the tumultuous and shifting experiences of adolescence, the strength and suffering of adulthood, the wisdom of age, and the unifying force which ties it all together. The program includes music composed by Rosephanye Powell, Robert Kyr, Kathleen Allan, Ola Gjeilo, Elaine Hagenberg, the Wyrd Sisters, Marie-Claire Saindon, Libby Larson, Tadeja Vulc, and Joan Szymko, as well as two world premieres by Elliott Encarnación and Nicholas Weininger. Musae is a treble vocal ensemble based in San Francisco. The group takes its name from the original "ladies of song," the classic nine Muses of Greek mythology.
