"Pandemic & Racism: What's Going On?" is a special, memorial concert by AfterGlow Chorus in Oakland, CA honoring the lives and victims lost to both the pandemic and racism.
The diverse, emotional, and powerful concert program includes a wide range of composers and genres, including Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," selections from the Brahms Requiem, a beautiful motet by Alonso Lobo (1598), African-American spirituals, , Cynthia Erivo's "Stand Up" (from the movie "Harriet"), Alicia Keys, Sara Bareilles, "You're All I Need to Get By" by Marin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, and the gospel classic "Total Praise" by Richard Smallwood.
The concert is in the vibrant Uptown neighborhood in Oakland, CA at the beautiful First Presbyterian Church of Oakland. The church combines both wonderful visuals and acoustics with its 138-foot spire and stunning stained glass windows. There is plenty of street parking is available as well. It is also a few blocks away from the 19th Street BART Station.
