I started playing clarinet while in fourth grade at Peralta Elementary in Oakland, playing in Peralta's band program, taught by Mr. David Tidball. In the sixth grade, I began studying privately with Mr. Rudy Tapiro, former Oakland Symphony Orchestra Principal Clarinetist and retired OUSD music teacher, and joined the Berkeley Youth Orchestra (BYO). I played clarinet in BYO for seven years, through my high school graduation. This past summer, I was a counselor and clarinet coach at the Laney Summer Music Program, directed by Mr. Jay Lehmann (Music Department Chair at Laney College). I previously interned with the program during the summers of 2012 and 2013.
My approach is student-centered, positive, and flexible.
