Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale auditioning new singers for 30th season.
The Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale, directed by Elena Sharkova, has become known in the Bay Area and beyond for its eclectic mix of concert programs: from choral-orchestral masterworks to contemporary, jazz, and folk- inspired compositions. As the chorus-in-residence for Symphony Silicon Valley, Chorale performs regularly with world-renowned vocal and instrumental soloists and conductors on stage of the historic California Theater in San Jose.
Symphony Silicon Valley Chorale and Music Director Elena Sharkova are thrilled to announce the 2015-2016 concert programs. The season will open in November with monumental and profound music of Jean Sibelius as Chorale joins the Stanford Orchestra and Maestro Jindong Cai at Bing Hall in celebration of composer’s 150 anniversary. In December 2015, the Chorale, along with members of Symphony Silicon Valley, rings in the season with its 10th annual family favorite — Carols in the California. This festive holiday concert will feature music by Handel, Rutter, Shaw and Britten as well as audience sing-alongs and carols both familiar and new. The Italian maestro Giampaolo Maria Bisanti returns to Symphony Silicon Valley to lead the orchestra and Chorale in Gabriel Faure’s ethereal Requiem. The Tango Project, a program conceived by director Elena Sharkova and dedicated to the passionate and magical tradition of Argentine music and dance, will introduce our audiences to rarely performed Misa di Buenos Aires and feature the inimitable bandoneon virtuoso Juan Paolo Joffre and the San Francisco String Quartet.
