The Vallejo Symphony has an immediate opening for a
PART-TIME STAGE MANAGER, VALLEJO SYMPHONY

The Stage Manager reports to the Symphony President or designee and works in conjunction with the Music Director/Conductor and Board of Directors. The Vallejo Symphony will perform three subscription concerts at the Empress Theatre in downtown Vallejo. There are three rehearsals prior to each concert.

January concert:
Rehearsal # 1—Saturday, January 27, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:30pm
Rehearsal #2—Saturday, January 27, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:30pm
Dress rehearsal—Sunday, January 28, 2017, 10:30am to 1:00pm
Performance—Sunday, January 28, 2017, from 3:00pm

April concert:
Rehearsal # 1—Saturday, April 14, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:30pm
Rehearsal #2—Saturday, April 14, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:30pm
Dress rehearsal—Sunday, April 15, 2017, 10:30am to 1:00pm
Performance—Sunday, April 15, 2017, from 3:00pm

The Stage manager holds primary responsibility for:
• Setting up and taking down the stage with chairs, stands, shells, risers, podium, percussion instruments, and other equipment as needed for each rehearsal and concert.
• Understanding run sheet; controlling entrances and other timing.
• Supervising and directing volunteer stagehands.
• Securing and transporting equipment as needed.
• Working with on-site lighting techs as needed for rehearsals and concerts.
• Attending a production meeting for each concert.
• Maintaining quality working relationships with Music Director/Conductor, musicians, staff, board members, volunteers, and venue staff.
• Arriving several hours before each rehearsal and concert as required for proper setup.

Compensation:
$300 for each concert set.

Experience Required:
Qualifications:
Be physically fit and able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
Have a valid California driver’s license.
Have the ability to work effectively with others.
Have the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Previous stage manager experience desirable.
Knowledge of classical music and orchestra settings a plus.
The Stage Manager will undergo periodic performance reviews.
