Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale will be holding auditions for core and alternate slots with the Philharmonia Chorale on June 28–30 and July 18–20, 2022 in San Francisco.
Individual auditions will take place June 28 & 29 and July 18 & 19, with 30-minute group callbacks taking place on June 30 and July 20, respectively.
Individual audition requirements: two arias, both of which are to be sung off book / by memory. One should be sostenuto (legato) and one with fast vocalises showing your flexibility and agility at a fast tempo. Baroque and/or early Classical selections are preferred. An accompanist will be provided.
Group callbacks will consist of some sightreading and singing in quartets and octets.

The health and safety of our auditionees, accompanists, and staff are of utmost priority. Our Health & Safety Protocols for the audition are currently as follows, however these may be modified as we get closer to the audition:
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Fully vaccinated is defined as completion of any FDA/WHO authorized vaccine regimen at least two weeks before your audition day, including a booster shot if eligible as recommended by individual’s domicile. Personnel must have submitted proof of vaccination status and proof of booster status (via copy/photo of vaccination card, California’s Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record, or any other approved digital passport) before arrival to the audition.
- We encourage applicants to complete a PCR test in advance and/or antigen test the day of the audition and to notify us immediately of any positive results.
- Must wear a well-fitted mask (PBO-approved singer’s mask, 3-ply, KN95, KF94 or equivalent — standard cloth masks are not acceptable) while indoors whenever possible, including during the audition.
- No visitors who are not directly involved with the audition will be allowed onsite unless otherwise approved by PBO.
