Palo Alto-based Golden State Youth Orchestra invites young musicians ages 6-18 to audition for the 2024-25 season. Led by an internationally renowned faculty, GSYO offers six orchestras/ensembles for students at all levels of musical ability. Start your musical journey in the entry-level orchestra Chamber Players or challenge yourself in the prestigious Symphony Orchestra!

The Symphony Orchestra, GSYO's premiere ensemble performs professional-level repertoire and hosts internationally recognized guest artists. The group holds an August retreat and tours internationally every other summer.
The Camilla Kolchinsky Orchestra prepares advanced string, wind, and brass players for the Senior Orchestra. They perform concerts throughout the Bay Area, including California Theatre in San Jose! They play full symphonies and works by composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and more! In the Spring of 2025, CKO will embark on its first domestic tour.
The El Camino Wind Orchestra challenges woodwinds, brass, and percussionists with classical and modern repertoire. Students at this level have typically had 3+ years of lessons.
The Galbraith Honor Strings is an intermediate, all-string group that, in addition to ensemble training, offers talented young violinists, violists, cellists, and bassists special sectional coaching to develop technique and musicality.
The Camerata Orchestra is a beginning-intermediate full orchestra for winds and string players who are still learning, but have had 2+ years of lessons and previous ensemble experience.
The Chamber Players Orchestra is the perfect first orchestra for beginning strings and wind players with 1+ years of lessons.
